One of the leading Accountancy & Taxation recruitment agencies in the South East, covering East & West Sussex, Kent and Surrey, based in Brighton.
Nigel Patrick has 30 years’ accountancy and taxation recruitment experience and was an accountant himself for 6 years with Smith & Williamson in London.
We offer a wide range of recruitment solutions which include contingency, contract, multi-hire and Executive Search.
Our standard TOBs are 20% of the starting salary for a permanent full-time vacancy, payable on start date. The rate is the same whatever the salary level, so you don’t have to worry about which ‘band’ the salary falls in. Nor do you have to pay a higher rate for a higher salary.
We do not charge for bonuses, cars or any other benefits, unlike most agencies.
Also, we offer discounts for exclusivity, multiple vacancies and for your loyalty.
Our expertise lies in placing suitable candidates in the following:
Public Practice (firms of accountants)
Industry & Commerce – all sectors
We have placed candidates in just about every type of job category which can be classified as accountancy or tax, including:
- Accountants, Auditors & Taxation specialists from trainees to Partners/Directors
- Finance Directors, Financial Controllers, Financial & Management Accountants
- Bookkeepers, Payroll staff, Ledger Clerks and Credit Controllers
- AAT, ACMA, ACCA, ACA, CTA – studiers and qualified level
Many of our candidates come from referral or head-hunting. However, we also advertise most of our vacancies on our website and on various job boards. We also have a large database of both inactive and active candidates that we will search through as well.
We interview every candidate that we think may be suitable. We assess their background, needs and ambitions and discuss the role with them in depth to ensure there is a match. We also check their ID, qualifications and obtain references (where discretion allows), although the onus is on you to check these in the final analysis. We then short-list the best few that match the job description and person specification most closely.
Absolutely. We have very detailed questionnaires that we can tailor to determine a comprehensive job description and person specification. Please ask us for details.
Just like you expect us to have met our candidates, our candidates expect us to have met our clients. Candidates always ask us what the offices are like, the team members, the bosses, the culture, whether there is parking available and so on. Also, meeting you will give us a much better insight into what you are really looking for, the type of personality that would fit in best and not what is just down on paper. So, if you want us to do a really great job of finding you the best fit for your organisation, we do need to meet you and have a look around your offices.
Most definitely. We have a detailed list of questions that you can use when preparing for the interview process.
We certainly do. We ensure that they fully understand the job description for a start. We also provide them with background information on your company, who they will be meeting and what format the interview is likely to take. We encourage them to check social media and the internet for information on you and your company and to check out location and travel arrangements. We also keep in contact with them so that we are aware if any problems or delays occur and can keep you informed if they do.
Some clients do make an offer on the spot. However, we prefer to manage the offer and acceptance stage for a number of reasons. The first is that being ‘put on the spot’ can lead to a wrong decision being made, which has to be retracted later. The second is that candidates may be out on other interviews or may already have other offers to consider and they need to discuss their options in confidence with a third party – ie us. Also, some negotiating may be required on salaries, benefits and so on and we are best placed to negotiate both on their and your behalf to reach the best solution.
Yes. We provide full feedback to all our candidates on a very timely basis, which includes all the successful ones as well as the unsuccessful ones, so that you don’t have to. We try to do it in a positive and constructive manner, which does of course rely on us getting full feedback from you.
Absolutely. Firstly, we help them with handing in their notice and then we keep in regular contact throughout their notice period in case a problem arises. We also advise them on what time to start on their first day (following your advice) and check that they have started. We also contact them again during their first week to see how they are settling in.
We like to keep our clients happy. Whilst we have done all the checks that we can and you have done all the checks that you can, we are dealing with human beings and occasionally a candidate that you have hired from us might not work out for one reason or another. Providing that it is not due to redundancy or a material change in the role, we do offer a generous free replacement service or money back guarantee. See our TOBs for full details.
